HCL Launches K2 Academy in Association with GWALIOR ENGINEERING COLLEGE
HCL Infosystems Limited, India’s premier information enabling company has announced an alliance with GEC Gwalior to launch HCL K2 Academy in Gwalior. At HCL K2 Academy, the students will be offered industry relevant IT skills in
IT hardware, software and networking.
As part of its Educational Institutions Alliance Program, HCL has launched K2 academy with an objective of bridging the gap between the demand and supply of industry-ready ICT professionals by creating a skilled workforce and making them available to organizations deploying ICT.

GEC EQUIPPED WITH VIRTUAL LAB (First in M.P.)
First in Madhya Pradesh, GEC Group of Colleges, Gwalior is now equipped with virtual laboratory. In a decent and short programme, inauguration of this lab held on 12th February 2012 in the conference hall of GEC. This unique facility has been provided by IIT Delhi and their trainers will regularly visit GEC for imparting training to the students of GEC Group of Colleges. As Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony Prof. Tarun Tanmay Das (From IIT Delhi) was present besides his two other Professors Rajendra Pal and NL Mahapatra (IIT Delhi were also present .
Briefing the news men, Director General of GEC Group of Colleges told that by virtue of this labs, Students shall be able to access the laboratories and other academic activities of other IITs of the nation. This will facilitate all the students and faculty members of computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology. GEC Group of Colleges has ben made as a nodal center for this lab after study of available infrastructure with GEC. This type of labs shall be established all over the India, he added. He also told that IIT Delhi has identified this college for establishing this lab on the initiation of MHRD., New Delhi.
IN addition to three guests from IIT Delhi, other distinguished guests were also present in the inauguration function. Chairman of MD Education Society Secretary of the Society Member of the Board of Governors were also present besides the Directors of the two institutes Dr. Nirved Kumar Pandey and Dr.G.S. Tomar.
The inaugural function was started in a traditional manner with the worship of Goddes Saraswati and thereafter the guests addressed the auditions present of the occasion. The inauguration function was hosted by Dr. Jaideep Gupta while vote of thanks was extended by Prof. Hemant Soni, the Head of Compute Science & Engineering of GEC.
Immediately after the inauguration function, technical session commenced in which a crowed of students was present to have be conducted in a series manner.
The Institute has been selected for installation of an ultra modern software-BRAHASPATI, recently developed and provided by the software experts of lIT Kanpur, only to some centres of excellence in technical education of the country for quality teaching of engineering subjects.
The software linked the students and faculty of the college with the expert faculty of IIT Kanpur and thus to make an educational exchange bridge. Out of 3500 Engineering colleges all over India, only 57 excellent technical institutions providing the facility of this wonderful and latest software in the country. In Madhya Pradesh, GEC is the only institute which provides the facility of software BRAHASPATI in all its departments and library.
Gwalior Engineering college has tie-up with Indo-Canadian Shastri Institute. As a result the students of GEC will be provided the scholarships for higher education in Canada.
These students may also be given opportunities for placements in Canada. Experts from Indo-Canadian Shastri Institute will visit GEC to train the students & faculty & also improve their technical skills. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO),Ahemdabad facilitates satellite based online education system for the students of Engineering & Technology in our Country. For this purpose they had to select only 100 excellent institutes which are providing quality technical education with best infra structural facilities. The Technical University of M.P. (RGTU, Bhopal) selected a few centres of technical excellence of the state and recommended to ISRO, Ahmedabad to facilitate this modern sophisticated technique of satellite based on line education system. ISRO plans to develop EDUSAT system to meet the growing demand for an interactive satellite based distance education system in the country, the GSAT-III application programme (GAP-III) has been proposed for using this satellite as a supplementary communication medium and advanced ground technology of convergence. GSAT-III is configured to meet the initial requirement of EDU-SAT-III, an exclusive satellite for distance education purpose. It is a matter of great pleasure that GEC has become one of the ISRO Satellite Based On-Line Education Centre.
GEC is the only institute which has a tie-up with Indo-German Tool Room (A Govt. of India Society). Government of India established Indo-German Tool Rooms in the country with technical and financial co-operation from the Federal Republic of Germany and respective states. Government of Germany provides funds for setting-up of Indo-German Tool Rooms in India. These Tool Rooms are situated in four major cities-Ahmedabad, Ludhiyana, Aurangabad & Indore. The experts of Indo-German Tool Room provide theoretical and practical training to engineering students of different disciplines.
